Frequently Asked Questions
Who do you work with?
I specialize in helping U.S. taxpayers living in Italy (and across Europe) stay compliant with their U.S. tax obligations. This includes employees, self-employed individuals, freelancers, and small business owners.
Do I really need to file U.S. taxes if I live in Italy?
Yes. Generally, the United States will tax your worldwide income, regardless of where you live. Even if you live and pay taxes in another country, you may still have U.S. tax obligations.
Will I be taxed twice on the same income?
In most cases, no. There are mechanisms such as the Foreign Tax Credit and the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion that help prevent double taxation. The right approach depends on your specific situation.

What documents do I need to get started?
Typically, you’ll need:
• Italian income documentation (e.g., Certificazione Unica, Modello Redditi PF, etc.)
• Prior year U.S. tax returns
• U.S. income documentation received (e.g., 1099s), if any
• Foreign bank and investment account statements
• Any relevant business or freelance income records
I’ll guide you through exactly what’s needed once we begin.
Do you help with late or missed filings?
Yes. If you haven’t filed U.S. taxes for previous years, I can help you catch up using IRS amnesty programs such as the Streamlined Filing Compliance Procedures.
Do you assist with FBAR and foreign account reporting?
Absolutely. If you have foreign bank or financial accounts, you may be required to file an FBAR (FinCEN Form 114) and possibly Form 8938. I ensure these are handled correctly and on time.
How does the process work?
Everything is handled remotely:
• Initial consultation to understand your situation
• Sign engagement letter
• Secure document upload
• Preparation and review of your tax return
• Your return is electronically filed (e-filed) with the IRS
Do you have a physical office in Italy?
No. I operate a fully virtual practice. I run my business from my home, which allows me to offer flexible, efficient, and secure services to clients anywhere in Italy and beyond. Operating virtually also helps keep overhead costs lower, and I’m able to pass those efficiencies on to my clients through more competitive pricing.
How do we communicate if everything is virtual?
We can connect via email, phone, or video calls depending on your preference. I aim to be responsive and accessible, regardless of where you are located.
Is my information secure?
Yes. I use a secure portal and encrypted systems to protect your personal and financial information at every step of the process. I am fully compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), ensuring that your data is collected, processed, and stored in accordance with applicable data protection laws. In addition, I maintain a comprehensive Written Information Security Plan (WISP) that outlines the administrative, technical, and physical safeguards in place to protect your sensitive information against unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.
Can you help with both U.S. and Italian taxes?
I specialize in U.S. taxation. However, I can coordinate with Italian tax professionals as needed to ensure your overall tax position is optimized.
When should I get started?
The sooner, the better. However, if you live and work in a foreign country, you may need to wait until certain local tax information is available before completing your U.S. tax return.

U.S. expats automatically receive an extension to June 15, and additional extensions may be available if needed. Planning ahead ensures we can align both your Italian and U.S. tax filings efficiently, thus to minimize errors and maximize your tax position.
Are you a licensed CPA and in good standing?
Yes. I am a licensed Certified Public Accountant in good standing. You can verify my license status directly through the official WA state board of accountancy website or by following this link.
